According to the new rules, cash withdrawals from credit cards will only be possible from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. During the night, from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, users will need to confirm their identity using a kimlik (Turkish identity document). For this, the credit card must be equipped with an ID chip, and the client must have a smartphone that supports NFC technology.
The identity confirmation procedure will look as follows:
- when attempting to withdraw cash, a notification will appear on the screen asking to confirm identity via electronic identification;
- the kimlik must be placed on the back of the phone with NFC turned on for the data to be read;
- enter the PIN code.
As reported by Milliyet, the increase in credit card limits and the active use of mobile banking have led to a rise in fraud cases, where attackers gain access to users' accounts and make transactions at night. The measures being introduced aim to prevent such incidents.
