Turkey introduces "nighttime" restrictions on cash withdrawals at ATMs

The Turkish authorities, representing the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), have decided to limit the ability to withdraw cash from credit cards at night. This innovation is related to the increase in cyberattacks on banking systems and cases of fraud, as reported by Milliyet TV.

According to the new rules, cash withdrawals from credit cards will only be possible from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. During the night, from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM, users will need to confirm their identity using a kimlik (Turkish identity document). For this, the credit card must be equipped with an ID chip, and the client must have a smartphone that supports NFC technology.

As reported by Milliyet, the increase in credit card limits and the active use of mobile banking have led to a rise in fraud cases, where attackers gain access to users' accounts and make transactions at night. The measures being introduced aim to prevent such incidents.
