The new restriction is aimed at preventing drone attacks
According to information from the publication "Kommersant," Russians who have traveled abroad may have their SIM cards temporarily blocked.
There are also plans to disable SIM cards that have not been used for 72 hours. As a result, subscribers will lose access to mobile communication and SMS messages.
The introduction of such a restriction is related to the need to combat "abandoned" SIM cards that could be used in drone attacks.
A similar measure was previously adopted for SIM cards from foreign operators.
Similar security measures are also in place in other countries, such as the USA, where SIM card owners are required to verify their identity to restore service.
