At the climate summit taking place during the 30th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30) in Belém, Brazil, Deputy Prime Minister Edil Baisalov made an important statement.

According to the press service of the Cabinet, Kyrgyzstan holds one of the leading positions in the world in reducing greenhouse gas emissions since 1990. The country confirmed the implementation of the updated Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC-3), which includes a reduction of emissions by 18% by 2030 and up to 30% with international support, as well as the implementation of the Concept of Carbon Neutrality by 2050.

Baisalov also mentioned the "Baku – Belém" roadmap, adopted under the chairmanship of Azerbaijan at COP29, which for the first time recognized mountain ecosystems alongside forests and oceans. He called for the establishment of a special status for mountain ecosystems and for priority funding for programs aimed at the adaptation and sustainable development of mountain regions.

In addition, Kyrgyzstan announced the holding of the Second Global Mountain Summit in 2027 in Bishkek, which will take place 25 years after the first summit. The country proposed to create a permanent dialogue on mountain and climate issues within the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

The COP30 conference is taking place from November 10 to 21, 2025, in Belém, Brazil, where heads of state, ministers, and representatives of international organizations are participating.
