Edil Baisalov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, participated in the first meeting of the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, which took place as part of the Second World Summit on Social Development in Doha, Qatar.

In his speech at the summit, he noted that hunger, poverty, and suffering affect hundreds of millions of people around the world — a situation that requires united efforts and decisive actions from our humanity.

“It is our duty to do everything possible to alleviate the suffering of these people. We must express special words of support to the people of Palestine, who today face artificially induced hunger, which is an international crime,” he added.

Baisalov also noted that Kyrgyzstan has joined the Global Alliance, supporting universal goals to eradicate poverty and ensure food security for all. He emphasized that humanity cannot remain indifferent to the fact that millions of people are deprived of the fundamental right — the right to life and nutrition.

For reference: The Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty was founded in 2024 at the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro with the aim of promoting the UN Sustainable Development Goals: the eradication of poverty and hunger. Currently, the alliance includes 104 countries.

The delegation of Kyrgyzstan, led by Edil Baisalov, is participating in the Second World Summit on Social Development taking place in Doha.
