In Kyrgyzstan, a festive event was held to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the United Nations. The ceremony took place at the Abdylas Maldybaev Kyrgyz National Opera and Ballet Theater under the motto "Working Together: 80 Years of Collaboration for Peace, Development, and Human Rights and the Way Forward."

The event gathered numerous guests, including representatives from government structures, parliament, civil society, youth, media, and international organizations. They all came to express their support for the principles of peace, sustainable development, and human rights promoted by the UN in Kyrgyzstan.

The UN Resident Coordinator in Kyrgyzstan, Antje Grawe, noted in her speech the importance of dialogue and cooperation in addressing both global and local issues.

"The United Nations, like today’s orchestra of 80 musicians, brings together diverse voices, each of which can create harmony when working together for a common goal. This is the essence of multilateralism — unity in diversity and strength through cooperation," she emphasized.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeenbek Kulubaev, also spoke at the event, after which a panel discussion on the topic "UN at 80: Partnership and Goals in a Changing World" took place, featuring experts and representatives from civil society.

As part of the anniversary events, an exhibition titled "UN Village" was organized, showcasing the work of 27 UN agencies operating in Kyrgyzstan. The exhibition covered four key areas: peace, development, human rights, and gender equality, vividly demonstrating the joint efforts of the UN and its partners in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals throughout the republic.

Note

UN Day marks the anniversary of the adoption of the UN Charter on October 24, 1945. This document has served as the foundation for efforts to strengthen peace, promote sustainable development, and protect human rights for 80 years. Kyrgyzstan became a member of the UN on March 2, 1992, and the UN system's permanent representation in the country was established in 1993.
