Ariunbat Altanzul has become the first Mongolian skier to successfully qualify for the Winter Olympics.

According to information from the Mongolian Ski Federation, the athlete met the Olympic qualifying standard during international competitions held at an indoor ski complex in Dubai, UAE. To participate in the "Milan-Cortina 2026" Winter Olympics, athletes needed to achieve an average score no higher than 120 based on the results of their best five runs. Ariunbat scored an average of 108.18, which allowed him to officially qualify for the XXV Winter Olympic Games. This landmark event means that Mongolia will send a skier to the Olympics for the first time in its history.

Thus, Mongolia now has three qualified athletes for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina. Previously, skiers Achbadrah Batmunkh and Ariuntungalag Enkhbayar had also qualified, and Ariunbat's success added a third participant to the team.

Ariunbat, coached by Temuulen, placed sixth and seventh in four runs, demonstrating scores of 88.55 and 94.94 in his best attempts. These results allowed him to achieve an average score of 108.18 over five runs, which meets the Olympic standard.
