Citizens Reporting Traffic Violations Will Receive Monetary Rewards
With the introduction of the new regulation, citizens providing photographic evidence of violations, such as blocking pedestrian crossings, bus stops, or illegal parking, will be able to expect a monetary reward.
For example, if a driver receives a fine of ₮20,000 for a violation, the person who reported it will receive 10-20% of the specified amount. In the event that the fine is not paid on time and its amount increases, the reward will be based on the new, increased fine amount. Income tax will be withheld from the payments before they are transferred to the citizen's bank account.
It should be noted that unpaid fines will accrue interest, meaning that a fine of ₮20,000 could grow to ₮30,000 if not settled within five months.
Reward payments will be made on a schedule similar to VAT refunds. Citizens will receive their payments for reports submitted in the last two months of 2025 by January 20, 2026, and for reports for the first quarter of 2026 by April 20, 2026.
