Television presenter, traveler, and author from the United Kingdom, Alexandra Tolstaya has drawn inspiration from the culture and nature of Kyrgyzstan for many years. She actively supports the ideas of intercultural exchange and the preservation of the traditions of nomadic peoples.
According to the organizers, the countess will represent nomadic culture, symbolizing the strength, beauty, and freedom of this way of life, while also uniting different peoples and cultures.
Alexandra is the grand-niece of the famous Russian writer Leo Tolstoy. She gained fame for her journey along the Silk Road in 1999, where she traveled 8,000 kilometers on horseback. The vast expanses of At-Bashi, with its wide valleys, yurts, and solitary yaks, left the greatest impression on her during this route. Later, she became a writer and television presenter, and for two decades organized horseback tours in other regions of Kyrgyzstan.
It was previously reported that two-time Olympic medalist and World Cup champion in freestyle wrestling Aisuluu Tynybekova became the ambassador for the VI World Nomad Games.
Recall that the VI World Nomad Games will take place from August 31 to September 6, 2026. The organizers announced that the opening ceremony will be held in Bishkek, while the main competitions and closing ceremony will take place in the Issyk-Kul region. Guests from 89 countries are expected to participate.
The World Nomad Games are international sports competitions dedicated to ethnic sports representing historically nomadic peoples of Central Asia.
