Alexandra Parakhina, a resident of Kara-Balta, became a witness to an interesting natural phenomenon — the autumn summer of butterflies.

She reported this to a Turmush correspondent.

“The warm weather continues, and every evening, dozens of magnificent 'peacock eye' butterflies appear over the blooming asters in the yard. They flutter over the flowers, land, and enjoy the nectar — this sight is incredibly beautiful,” Parakhina shared her impressions and photos.

Ecologist Irina Stezhko explained that 'peacock eye' butterflies emerge from their chrysalises twice during the summer.

“From June to July and from August to September, their mass emergence is observed. Females of the second generation can be found until the end of October. After that, the butterflies hibernate and reappear in early spring. They feed on nectar and decaying plants. This species is protected in Kyrgyzstan,” she added.
