

At the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, taking place from October 30 to November 13, 2025, in Samarkand, representatives from 194 countries are participating. Kyrgyzstan hosted an official reception where it presented the VI World Nomad Games, scheduled for August 31 to September 6, 2026, on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul.
According to the Secretariat of the World Nomad Games, this event aims to unite the peoples of the world on a single platform.
The Minister of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic, Mirbek Mambetaliev, invited the international community to participate in this significant event, emphasizing that the Nomad Games will connect sports, culture, science, and traditions.
Additionally, the minister announced the unanimous adoption of a Resolution proclaiming September 22 as "International Day of Nomadic Heritage," which was approved on November 6 by a majority of UNESCO member states. This resolution aims to support global recognition of the cultural, historical, and social aspects of nomadic traditions and their contribution to cultural diversity and sustainable development of humanity.
The year 2026 will be an important milestone for Kyrgyzstan, marking the 40th anniversary of the Issyk-Kul Forum, founded by Chinghiz Aitmatov, symbolizing dialogue, mutual understanding, and human values.
High-ranking officials were also present at the reception, including UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay.
The event was attended by numerous permanent representatives of countries to UNESCO.
The 43rd session of the General Conference is taking place for the first time in 40 years outside of Paris.
