At the meeting of the Commission on Social and Human Sciences during the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference taking place in Samarkand, Minister of Culture Mirbek Mambetaliev made an important statement on November 6.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Culture, he presented an initiative put forward by the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, calling for September 22 to be declared International Day of "Nomadic Heritage".

This initiative was developed by the Permanent Mission of Kyrgyzstan to UNESCO and has already received support from 22 member countries of the organization.

Mambetaliev emphasized that the philosophy of nomads, which is based on harmony with nature and the ability to adapt, can inspire modern society striving for sustainable development.

He also invited all attendees to the VI World Nomad Games, which will be held in Kyrgyzstan in 2026. This event aims to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of nomadic peoples, as well as to advance ideas of sustainable development and intercultural understanding.

“The joint celebration of the International Day of 'Nomadic Heritage' and the holding of the World Nomad Games create an excellent platform for strengthening international cooperation and dialogue between generations through culture and science,” the minister noted.
