Great Britain has announced its medal targets for the Winter Games

The Great Britain team aims to win between 4 and 8 medals, exceeding the previous record set at the Sochi 2014 and Pyeongchang 2018 Olympics, where five medals were won. The Paralympic team plans to earn between 2 and 5 medals, highlighting a cautious but positive outlook amid existing challenges.

Support of £32.5 million from lottery funding has allowed 55 athletes on the team to access modern training technologies, significantly improving their preparation levels. Key medal contenders include Mia Brooks (snowboarding), Kirsty Muir and Zoe Atkin (freestyle), Bruce Mouat (curling), and Matt Weston (skeleton). Recent achievements at world championships in various disciplines inspire hope for successful performances.

Despite the historical limitations faced by Great Britain in winter sports, such as a lack of snow and ice, experts note that thorough preparation and participation in competitions held in the European time zone provide the team with a certain competitive advantage. The goals for the Paralympic Games are somewhat more modest due to injuries and limited access to competitions, but overall optimism remains high.
