According to the director of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports, Kazybek Moldazhiyev, the reconstruction of the Kaba Uulu Kozhomkul Sports Palace will take place in Bishkek. This decision was made as a result of the instruction from President Sadyr Japarov, announced at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh committee dedicated to science, education, and culture.
Deputy Bolot Sagynaev added that sports facilities in the country are being actively updated, and new ones are being built, which indicates the development of the sports sector.
However, he emphasized that the Sports Palace, located in the center of the capital, is in unsatisfactory condition. This facility houses the only swimming pool that meets Olympic standards, so it needs renovation, as well as improvements to the football field and sauna. The deputy expressed hope that the Palace would be able to secure funding independently.
Moldazhiyev also noted that President Japarov instructed to carry out repair work on the Sports Palace during the opening of the "Zhashtyk Arena".
“After the opening ceremony, the president instructed to combine the repair work of the Sports Palace with the 'Zhashtyk Arena' project, while maintaining its status. The head of state also instructed Mayor Aibek Junushaliev to find funds for financing. Currently, we are actively cooperating with the mayor's office and including this facility in the plan for the current year, and we hope that the work will begin soon,” he added.
