Donald Trump announced a reduction in tariffs on Chinese goods, which were imposed due to the fentanyl issue, from 20% to 10%. He made this announcement following his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, as reported by CNN.

The U.S. President explained: "I imposed a 20% tariff on goods from China due to the fentanyl threat. I have reduced this rate to 10%, and this decision takes effect immediately." He also expressed hope that Xi Jinping is "doing everything possible" to stop the supply of fentanyl.

It is worth reminding that in April 2025, Trump initiated a trade war by announcing new tariffs for nearly 180 countries around the world. The largest increase affected China, which in response raised tariffs on American goods. At the height of the conflict, the tariff rates reached 145% on Chinese goods and 125% on American ones. Over time, both sides began to lower tariffs, and by the end of October, China was charging a 10% tariff on imports from the U.S.
