Wake Atoll
WAKE
An atoll consisting of 3 islands (Wake, Wilkes, and Peale) in the central part of the Pacific Ocean. Area - 7.7 km². Population - approx. 200 people (2005).
It has been owned by the USA since 1899. The islands have an airfield for jet aircraft and facilities for missile testing.
There is cable communication with Honolulu and Guam. Administrative management is carried out by the United States Air Force.
