During the discussion, issues of joint cooperation in the field of human resource development were addressed, as well as the results of the JDS scholarship program, implemented with the support of JICA and JICE.
As part of the JDS program, the training of specialists for the 20th cohort of master's and doctoral programs is planned, for which Japan has allocated a grant of 399 million yen.
From 2006 to 2025, 327 state and municipal officials from Kyrgyzstan, as well as 28 participants of the "Young Leaders" program, have been trained in Japan.
During the meeting, the following initiative was proposed:
- to increase the quota of the JDS program to 50 places (currently 20 places — 19 for master's and 1 for doctoral programs),
- to expand the "Young Leaders" program to 10 places.
The ambassador expressed readiness to convey these proposals to Japan.
Jantayev emphasized that 2026 will be a significant year for bilateral cooperation: this year will mark the 20th anniversary of the JDS program and the 25th anniversary of the JICA representation in the Kyrgyz Republic.
