PM2.5 consists of particles smaller than 2.5 microns, which is 30 times smaller than the diameter of a human hair. These particles include dust, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates present in the air. They contribute to the deterioration of air quality, which is characteristic of large megacities.
As of February 10, Bishkek ranks 14th in the world air quality ranking (11:00).
