According to information, the governor of the Surkhandarya region of Uzbekistan, Ulugbek Kasimov, confirmed at a meeting with the governor of Balkh, Mohammad Yusuf Wafa, the region's intention to purchase fresh fruits from Afghanistan and organize their export to third countries.
Kasimov emphasized that the country's president has granted the necessary powers to establish cooperation with the Afghan side on this issue.
He noted: "We are ready to purchase all fresh fruits from Afghanistan and transport them to other countries via our routes."
The governor also pointed out the possibility of exporting Afghan fruits by both air and rail transport, adding that Uzbekistan can serve as a reliable transit hub.
Currently, Uzbek media have not provided comments on this information.
The situation with Afghan fruits remains problematic, as closed borders with Pakistan lead to significant losses for traders, amounting to about one million dollars daily.
