Economist Sergey Ponomarev expressed his opinion regarding the initiative of the Ministry of Agriculture concerning the establishment of mobile points for selling meat products at affordable prices. He emphasized that this measure helps to create socially important infrastructure by eliminating unnecessary links in the supply chain from producers to consumers.
“This initiative is undoubtedly beneficial and will primarily bring advantages to consumers. Social prices are especially important for those groups of the population that have limited financial resources,” he noted.
Ponomarev also highlighted that such a structure would reduce the distance goods travel from producer to buyer, thereby excluding the interests of intermediaries. “This will create conditions for direct interaction between farmers and consumers. Considering that affordable meat prices are critical for supporting vulnerable segments of the population, this initiative is indeed important. If this infrastructure develops into a full-fledged network of food trucks, interest in it will grow even more,” he added.
“As the experience of fairs shows, when farmers have direct access to the market, prices invariably turn out to be lower,” concluded Sergey Ponomarev.
