The first wind power plant has started its operations in Kyrgyzstan and has already begun supplying megawatts to the country's energy system. This was reported on social media by Kundus Kyrbashova, the head of the Association of Green Stations.

“We are transitioning from theory to practical energy generation, which opens a new chapter in the development of wind energy in our country. It is especially pleasing that this project has been implemented by the Kyrgyz company ‘Metrum TEK,’” she noted.

It is worth mentioning that construction of this wind power plant is actively ongoing in Balykchy, located in the Issyk-Kul region.

As a reminder, the wind farm is being created by the local company ‘Metrum TEK’ in the SEZ ‘Karakol,’ not far from the city of Balykchy. Investments in the project amount to 100 million dollars and are aimed at developing the national energy system.

The wind farm project includes 100 megawatts of installed capacity and will be implemented in two phases:

- The first phase — installation of 21 turbines with a total capacity of 50 megawatts;

- The second phase — addition of 20 turbines with a capacity of 2.5 megawatts each.

Furthermore, the wind farm will supply electricity not only to the Issyk-Kul region but will also participate in the CASA-1000 project for electricity export.

It is projected that by 2030, the global installed capacity of wind power plants will reach significant levels, and technologies for integration with energy storage systems will enhance the reliability and competitiveness of wind energy.
