In Kyrgyzstan, the launch of new coal-fired thermal power plants is being considered, with a total capacity of 1,050 megawatts. This information was announced during a meeting between Energy Minister Talaybek Ibraev and representatives of the consortium, which includes companies GPRC, NRP, and KCG, Konstantin Panovko and Alexander Ong.

The press service of the Ministry of Energy reported that the minister suggested the consortium explore the possibility of constructing these power plants directly at the coal deposits in Kyrgyzstan.

Consortium representatives expressed their readiness to develop, finance, and construct three thermal power plants.

Each station will have a capacity of 350 megawatts, thus the total installed capacity of the entire project will reach 1,050 megawatts. Investors plan to use clean coal technologies that comply with international environmental standards.

Partners emphasized their experience in constructing similar facilities. The application of modern technologies guarantees reliable and uninterrupted electricity production. In the near future, specialists will conduct studies regarding the characteristics of local coal, including its calorific value, ash content, moisture, sulfur and phosphorus content, as well as the level of volatile substances.

The Energy Minister called for the commencement of surveys and promised full support from the ministry for the successful implementation of the project.
