Kyrbashova noted that this situation is part of a global trend. In neighboring countries, due to a shortage of electricity, active campaigns are being conducted urging citizens to be mindful of resources and to save electricity.
The main factors for the increase in electricity consumption have been the growth in population and, consequently, the increase in resource consumption.
“Previously, 10-20 years ago, small refrigerators were used in homes, there were no air conditioners or many gadgets, so the demand for electricity was significantly lower. Currently, consumption has increased three to four times. There is also a growing number of enterprises, mini-workshops, and new residential buildings, which further increases electricity consumption,” explained Kundus Kyrbashova.
She emphasized the importance of energy conservation, calling for the use of energy-efficient devices and household appliances of class A and above, as well as replacing regular bulbs with energy-saving ones.
“Our parents always taught us to save. Therefore, we need to adhere to this rule and be responsible in our use of electricity,” the expert concluded.
According to information provided by the government, it is expected that by 2025, the volume of electricity consumption in Kyrgyzstan will reach 19.3 billion kilowatt-hours, which is 900 million kilowatt-hours more than in 2024.
