“The exhibition opened its doors on the day of the award ceremony for the winners and prizewinners. The Design Championship is a creative event that traditionally takes place every autumn since 2009. Over the seven years of its existence, the event has transformed from a small competition among Bishkek designers into a well-known and prestigious international creative contest. The format of the Design Cup has no analogs in the world and has already become a recognizable brand of Kyrgyzstan on the international design arena,” said the competition organizer Alexey Lysogorov.

The event is quite multifaceted. On one hand, it showcases excellent contemporary examples of graphic design to the mass audience, and on the other hand, it serves as an educational process, as the tasks in the “tournament” carry an active educational character. Another important aspect of the competitions is that it is practically a “sporting and gambling” event, where a friendly and unifying atmosphere prevails due to collaborative creativity. In short, it is a mix of competition and design creativity, where participants must prove their skills here and now, rather than sending their old works to the competition. This stimulates participants like nothing else and literally forces them to “jump higher than their heads,” which undoubtedly reflects on the quality of the design.

In this championship, designers from any country can try their hand at exciting and useful tasks. The tournament registered 170 participants from eight countries around the world. The jury always consists of qualified and competent specialists from other countries, who take on the “form of referees” and evaluate the designs of the participants. The works were judged by masters from Denmark, Italy, Iran, Ecuador, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan.

This year, the largest number of participants came from Russia. Kyrgyzstan was represented by designers from Bishkek, Kant, Kadamjay, and Osh. The winner of this championship was Roman Kirichenko, while the silver medal was awarded to Salim Jumaliev. The third place was awarded to Marina Varekhova. The listed participants are the main prizewinners of the competition, but in addition, awards were also given to participants in ten other categories. The audience's choice award went to Yulia Tarnovitskaya from Moscow for her work “Lisaped.” The exhibition will last until December 1, so you have the opportunity to get acquainted with the works of renowned designers and their creative projects.
