In an interview, the president noted that the issue of replacing driver's licenses had not been raised for nearly three decades. Previously, passports, ID cards, and licenses were produced abroad, and their security features did not meet modern requirements.
— Sadyr Nurgoyevich, many questions have arisen in society regarding the replacement of driver's licenses. Some licenses are indefinite, while on the "Tunduk" platform, the validity expires in 2027, and others in 2028. What should be done in this case?
— I clarify. For the reasons mentioned, both old ID cards and driver's licenses need to be replaced.
If citizens plan to travel abroad or intend to use the documents only in Kyrgyzstan, they need to replace their licenses with new ones.
Some licenses are so worn out that their data is unreadable. Therefore, even indefinite licenses are subject to replacement.
The replacement process is carried out without weekends and breaks from 8:30 AM to 11:00 PM.
Previously, a medical certificate No. 083 was required to replace indefinite licenses, but now this process has been simplified, and a medical certificate is not needed for replacing indefinite licenses.
A certificate is only required for those receiving a license for the first time.
— For the convenience of citizens, there is also the option to replace licenses through the "Tunduk" portal. However, unfortunately, there have been recent disruptions in the portal's operation. Why did problems arise with the system at such an important time?
— I explain the situation with the "Tunduk" system. Previous governments only formally declared about digitalization, but in fact, this direction did not receive enough attention. Necessary funding was lacking, and the servers were not powerful enough.
In this regard, 122.5 million soms have been allocated from the Presidential Fund for the modernization of the "Tunduk" platform. Additionally, 9.5 million soms have been allocated from the republican budget for the first stage of modernization.
This will significantly increase the system's capabilities.
Recent disruptions in the "Tunduk" portal occurred due to a large influx of citizens, which led to server overload.
Work to resolve this issue will continue.
Therefore, citizens are advised to completely replace their old ID cards and driver's licenses with new ones.
It is important that the international community has no doubts about who is a citizen of Kyrgyzstan.
In our country and regarding us, there should be no ambiguities.
