- During the meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh dedicated to finance, budget, entrepreneurship, and competition development on January 19, 2026, deputy Ulan Primov raised the question of what measures are taken in case pork is found in halal products.

In response to this question, Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce Sultan Akhmatov noted that there had already been a case of such a violation in Kyrgyzstan.

“The company ‘Rikha’ claimed that its products met halal standards, however, pork was found in them,” he explained.

According to Akhmatov, the company did not undergo proper accreditation, and its license has currently been revoked.

The deputy also inquired about the penalties that await violators.

Sultan Akhmatov replied that there is a law in the country regulating the halal industry, which specifies all necessary requirements. However, this law does not stipulate penalties for violations, so the following fines were established: for individuals — 75 calculation indicators (approximately 7,500 soms), for legal entities — 230 calculation indicators (about 23,000 soms).

Primov expressed the opinion that it would be advisable to first warn the company before imposing a fine, rather than applying sanctions immediately.
