In Kyrgyzstan, grain harvest in 2025 decreased by 14.2%, totaling 1.8 million tons
This is 14.2% less compared to 2024, primarily due to a decrease in the gross harvest of wheat and barley, which fell by 26.2% and 26.5%, respectively.
In 2025, the gross harvest of wheat was 490.5 thousand tons, barley — 449 thousand tons, and corn for grain — 846.4 thousand tons.
The most significant share in the structure of the gross grain harvest belongs to corn for grain — 47.3%, followed by wheat — 27.4% and barley — 25.1%.
Peasant (farm) households remain the main producers of grain, accounting for over 91% of the total harvest volume.
Interestingly, the gross harvest of wheat in 2024 increased by 51% compared to 2023, but in 2025 there was a decline of 26.2%. A similar situation is observed with barley: a growth of 59.9% in 2024 was followed by a decrease of 26.5% in 2025.
The reduction in grain production volumes is associated with a drop in yield. In 2025, the average yield of wheat was 19.8 quintals per hectare, significantly lower than 27.7 quintals per hectare in 2024. The yield of barley also decreased: 18.3 quintals per hectare compared to 24.7 quintals per hectare in 2024.
Nevertheless, the gross harvest of corn for grain continues to increase: in 2024 it grew by 0.7% compared to 2023, and in 2025 — by 5.1% compared to the previous year.
The largest volumes of wheat production are concentrated in Chui region (35.6%), Issyk-Kul (21.2%), Osh (19.3%), and Jalal-Abad (11.9%). In barley production, the leaders are Chui (37.1%), Issyk-Kul (29.7%), Osh (11.3%), and Naryn (9.7%) regions. Corn for grain is primarily produced in Chui (33.9%), Osh (26.8%), and Jalal-Abad (26.2%) regions.
