On February 2, 2026, in the Sokuluk District, a report was received at the local internal affairs department stating that three children had fallen into a canal located in the village of Maiskaya, in the Zhana-Pakhtinsky ayil okmotu. This information was provided by the Internal Affairs Department of the Chui Region.
The report of this incident was recorded in the established manner, and an investigative operational group immediately went to the scene. Upon arrival, it was found that the bodies of all three children had been retrieved from the canal; however, unfortunately, they did not survive until the arrival of medical personnel.
During the investigation, the identities of the deceased were established: they were children born in 2021 — M.N., S.E., and I.M.
The investigation revealed that the children often played together; their families lived nearby and were relatives. The distance to the canal where the incident occurred is about 300 meters from their homes.
The canal into which the children fell was filled with water for irrigating agricultural land, and there was no fencing along its banks. Additionally, the edges of the canal were covered with ice. Until 2:00 PM, no one had noticed the children were missing. One of the children, M.I., also born in 2021 and non-verbal, went to his mother K.N. to try to report what had happened. Not understanding him, she followed him. When they approached the canal, the woman saw the drowned children and began to call for help.
The bodies of the children were sent to the morgue, where appropriate forensic examinations were ordered. The investigation is ongoing, and based on its results, procedural decisions will be made in accordance with the legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic.
