In the Bakai-Ata district, an investigation has been initiated into the case of serious harm to the health of a woman who was hospitalized with burns.

She is currently receiving treatment in one of the medical facilities in the capital, Bishkek.

According to information provided by Turmush, the incident occurred about three months ago in the village of Boo-Terek, located in the Bakai-Ata district, which is part of the rural district of Kümüştak.

According to local authorities, the family lived in a house with the husband's relatives. The daughter-in-law, born in 1998, T. kyzy M., is originally from Naryn, and her husband, born in 1994, J. uulu D., also has two daughters. The incident was recorded approximately three months ago.

When representatives of the village government arrived at the scene, the daughter-in-law and the children had already been taken to the hospital. Neighbors and employees of the district internal affairs department were present at the scene.

Witnesses claimed that during the attempt to light the stove, gasoline was used instead of diesel fuel, which splashed on the daughter-in-law and caused the fire. Two children were taken to their father's older brother with the help of neighbors.

At the time of the incident, J. uulu D.'s parents were at a celebration and were not at home. In connection with the incident, the village government provided the family with financial assistance of 10,000 soms to cover medical expenses.

Representatives of the Talas region's internal affairs department confirmed the information about the investigation. On February 5, 2026, a citizen M.T., born in 1998, filed a complaint with the Lenin District Department of Internal Affairs in Bishkek, stating that on October 15, 2025, her husband D.J., born in 1994, had a quarrel without any apparent reason, kicked her out of the house, doused her with gasoline, and set her on fire. As a result of this incident, M.T. sustained serious injuries, which she had kept silent about for a long time.

According to the internal affairs department, on October 15, 2025, information about a fire in a residential house was received from a district police officer. The report was registered in the Unified Register of Incidents.

During the initial investigation, witnesses were interviewed, who explained that when trying to light the stove, the fire did not ignite, and as a result of the gasoline being sprayed, a fire broke out, causing the spouses to suffer burns. They were hospitalized in the intensive care unit; however, their condition did not allow for questioning.

After the incident, the victim did not contact relatives or law enforcement agencies to report domestic violence. A forensic medical examination was conducted as part of the case.

However, on February 5, 2026, M.T. filed a new complaint, stating that the incident was a result of domestic violence and that her husband intentionally doused her with flammable liquid and set her on fire. In connection with the new circumstances, additional verification measures have been initiated.

A criminal case has been initiated against D.J. under Article 130, Part 2, Clause 1 ("Causing serious harm to health") of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. The suspect has been placed in a temporary detention facility.

Currently, investigative actions are ongoing.
