According to information provided by the press service of the Talas region's police department, on February 5, 2026, a 25-year-old woman, M. T., reported to the Lenin District Police Department in Bishkek. She stated that on October 15, 2025, in her home in the Bakai-Ata district, her husband, 29-year-old D. Zh., had a conflict with her for no apparent reason, forced her out into the street, and then doused her with gasoline and set her on fire. As a result of this incident, M. T. sustained serious injuries, which she kept silent about for a long time.
According to local police, on the same day, October 15, 2025, a police officer reported a fire in one of the houses to the Bakai-Ata district police. The information was recorded in the crime log.
During the initial investigation, witnesses were interviewed. They reported that while starting the stove, the fire did not ignite, and at that moment gasoline was sprayed, leading to the fire. As a result, both M. T. and D. Zh. were taken to intensive care; however, due to their serious condition, they could not be interrogated.
After the incident, the woman did not inform either her relatives or law enforcement about the fact of domestic violence. A forensic medical examination was appointed for this case.
On February 5, 2026, M. T. filed a statement again, indicating that the incident was a result of domestic violence: according to her, her husband intentionally doused her with flammable liquid and set her on fire. In connection with the new circumstances, an additional investigation has been initiated.
A criminal case has been opened under Article 130, Part 2, Item 1 ("Causing serious harm to health") of the Criminal Code. The suspect, D. Zh., has been placed in a temporary detention facility.
Currently, the investigation is ongoing.
