- Deputy Nilufer Alimjanova, at the meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on agricultural policy, water resources, subsoil use, ecology, and environmental protection, held on February 9, 2026, raised the question of how the introduction of limits on irrigation water would affect the farming community.

In response, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture Bakyt Torobaev confirmed that irrigation water will now be provided strictly within the established limits.

Alimjanova also noted that farmers have many questions regarding the new tariff for irrigation water.

Torobaev added that before the introduction of tariffs and accounting for irrigation water, the Water Resources Service collected about 100 million soms per year, whereas now this amount has increased to 300 million soms.

According to him, the collected funds will be directed towards cleaning canals, maintaining irrigation infrastructure, and increasing the salaries of employees to 20,000 soms per month.

The deputy expressed concern that the limits and new tariffs might hinder farmers' access to water in arid regions and increase irrigation costs.

This issue was raised in the context of discussing the draft resolution of the Jogorku Kenesh "On the progress of preparations for the spring field and economic works in the Kyrgyz Republic in 2026."
