James Toney, a 57-year-old boxer who has secured his place in the Hall of Fame and became a world champion in three weight classes, sharply criticized the undefeated Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk.
“Usyk is just garbage. If he had fought in my time, he would have been beaten from both sides with no chance of success. He is not a great boxer. Do you know why? Because none of the modern boxers can claim to be among the greatest in history,” Toney stated.
“In our time, it was different. Boxers are not afraid to step into the ring. To become great, you need to fight great opponents,” he added.
“I would easily knock out Usyk. The modern heavyweight division is a completely different level,” Toney is quoted by the Bloody Elbow portal.
