As reported by Habertürk, Sayyora Ergashalieva stopped communicating with her relatives on January 23. During the investigation, the police found that she was last seen entering a high-rise building, where Durdona Hakimova was later murdered.
Law enforcement agencies found recordings from surveillance cameras showing that on January 23, Ergashalieva entered the building, and soon after, two suspects — citizens of Uzbekistan D.A.U.T. (31 years old) and G.A.K. (29 years old) — also entered. It is known that both women and the men lived in the same apartment for about a month. It was also reported that Sayyora had a close relationship with G.A.K.
The cameras recorded the suspects leaving the building on January 24 with black garbage bags, and later exiting with a white suitcase. According to police information, they called a taxi and headed to the Fatih district, where they disposed of the contents of the suitcase in a trash container, and then walked to the Marmaray subway station — Yenikapı.
During the questioning of the suspects, it was revealed that on January 23, in the apartment where Hakimova was murdered, Sayyora Ergashalieva was also killed. The body of the second Uzbek woman was dismembered and thrown into trash containers in different parts of Istanbul, as reported by Habertürk.
On January 24, in the Şişli district of Istanbul, a decapitated body of a woman was found in a trash container. Fingerprints confirmed that it was 37-year-old Durdona Hakimova. The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul reported that two citizens suspected of her murder were detained while attempting to leave Turkey and fly to Georgia. The murder sparked a wave of protests in Istanbul and Ankara.
