- At the "Agrodialog" forum held on February 18, Vyacheslav Rachenko, a farmer from the Jayil district, shared his experience in growing parsnips, which has become an important export crop.

He noted that parsnips were sown on an area of 9 hectares using drip irrigation. The average yield was 25.3 tons per hectare, while on some plots, an impressive result of 30 tons was achieved.

According to Rachenko, such high results were made possible by the presence of necessary infrastructure, including access to water and electricity, as well as modern agricultural technologies. The use of a fertigation system, which allows for simultaneous irrigation and fertilization of plants, as well as agricultural drones for field treatment, also played a role.

However, the farmer faced a number of difficulties. One of the main problems was the lack of technological recommendations for growing parsnips. Additionally, at the beginning, there was low seed germination, which was around 60%. It later became clear that to improve this indicator, it was necessary to carry out pre-treatment of seeds at a certain temperature.

Rachenko added that the use of drip irrigation contributed to more rational fertilizer consumption and ensured high product quality that meets export requirements.

Note: Parsnip is a vegetable crop from the Apiaceae family, known for its sweet root, which resembles a nut. Externally, parsnip looks like tall grass with a straight, branched stem. It matures in September, and the size of its roots can reach 25 cm. The parsnip root is considered a dietary product.
