- According to the information from the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and the Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, Erlis Akunbekov, the agro-industrial sector accounts for about 10% of the gross domestic product and provides jobs for approximately 20% of the working-age population. This was stated on February 27 at a republican meeting in "Yntymak Ordo".

Akunbekov emphasized that the agricultural sector is one of the priorities in the country's development strategy until 2030.

According to his data, in 2024, the GDP of agriculture amounted to 396.8 billion soms, and by the end of 2025, this figure increased to 459.7 billion soms, resulting in a growth of nearly 63 billion soms in one year.

"The population is fully provided with socially significant food products such as milk, potatoes, vegetables, meat, eggs, and sugar. However, the demand for vegetable oil and fruits is met through imports," the minister added.

He also noted that in recent years there has been a significant increase in state support for the agricultural sector.

As part of this support, an effective system of preferential lending has been implemented, and specific projects are being carried out. The volume of lending in 2024 amounted to 11.9 billion soms, and in 2025 — 12.6 billion soms.
