According to information provided by Bolotbek Tashtanov, head of the water policy and drinking water supply department of the Ministry of Agriculture, by 2026, a structure for sown areas will already be formed in Kyrgyzstan. On the radio, he noted which specific crops will be planted and in which regions.

Tashtanov also added that in collaboration with district water management departments and local administrations, calculations of the necessary water volumes and their consumption for each region are being clarified. If it turns out that the water needs exceed the projected inflow volumes, farmers will be offered to switch to certified, drought-resistant plant varieties.

In various regions of the country, headquarters have already been established to manage the distribution of water resources, with the main task of ensuring even and rational distribution of water.

It is planned to install 1,500 devices for measuring water resources by 2026. This innovation will allow for more accurate monitoring of water supply volumes and losses, as well as improve management of distribution under current conditions.

According to meteorologists, precipitation levels are expected to be within the average annual norms. However, as Tashtanov noted, the annual reduction of water resources by 30-35% due to climate change creates additional risks for agriculture.

He emphasized the importance of using high-yield and certified seeds, rather than dubious products offered on the market. In addition, the ministry provides support to farmers in financial matters and the implementation of modern agricultural technologies. Specialists are ready to visit locations for consultations with agricultural producers.
