There should be no expectation of a shortage of fuel and lubricants (F&L) in Kyrgyzstan. This was stated by the First Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce, Choro Seyitov, at a press conference on March 13.

According to Seyitov, the control over prices and volumes of F&L is carried out by state institutions, including the Ministry of Economy, the Antimonopoly Regulation Service, and the Ministry of Energy.

“We are closely monitoring the prices and volumes of F&L. We will not allow any shortage,” he emphasized.

In addition, the Deputy Minister noted that fuel supply plays a key role in spring fieldwork. Maximum allowable prices for fuel have already been established for agricultural producers.

The authorities are also taking into account external risks, such as the unstable situation in the Middle East, which may affect the fuel market.

“We are analyzing these risks and taking measures to ensure that the crisis does not affect our country, especially in terms of logistics and prices for F&L,” he added.

Seyitov reminded that Russia remains the main supplier of fuel for Kyrgyzstan, with which there are existing supply agreements.

“The Russian Federation traditionally provides us with F&L, despite external factors,” Seyitov noted.

In the near future, it is planned to intensify work on the ground to control prices with the help of local self-government bodies.
