- In Kyrgyzstan, a program is being implemented aimed at improving livestock breeds through artificial insemination and the development of breeding farms. This was reported by the head of the department for the development of breeding livestock, feed, and the introduction of biotechnology of the Veterinary Service under the Ministry of Agriculture, Myktybek Kalandarov, during a radio broadcast.

Kalandarov noted that in 2025, the republican budget allocated 60 million soms for these purposes. These funds were used to purchase 270,000 doses of semen, which will be provided to insemination technicians through district veterinary offices completely free of charge.

In addition, specialists received 160 sets of necessary equipment and liquid nitrogen for storing the semen. The program was launched in September 2025.

"At the moment, over 12,500 artificial insemination procedures for cows have already been performed," he reported.

Kalandarov added that when selecting semen, breeds most suitable for the climatic conditions of Kyrgyzstan were taken into account.

Farmers can take advantage of this program by contacting insemination technicians in their villages through district veterinary services.

"The cost of the service ranges from 1,000 to 1,500 soms, while a purebred calf can cost from 60,000 soms and above," Kalandarov noted.

He also reported that to support livestock breeders, a preferential lending program is in place in the country, under which farmers can obtain loans at 3% per annum for the purchase of breeding livestock or for fattening animals.
