- In 2025, 25 thousand hectares of pastures were sown in Kyrgyzstan, aimed at improving the forage base of the region. As noted by Myktybek Kalandarov, head of the department for the development of breeding livestock, feed, and the implementation of biotechnology in animal husbandry, this was done as part of a program designed to support agriculture.

According to Kalandarov, 15 thousand hectares were sown in early spring, and an additional 10 thousand hectares of pastures were added in the fall.

In the Talas region, in the rural municipality of Shumkar-Uya, experiments are also being conducted on the use of local organic fertilizers over an area of 100 hectares of pastures.

Furthermore, during the administrative reform, municipal enterprises were established in each rural municipality, which are now responsible for managing the pastures instead of the previous pasture committees.

Currently, plans for pasture management for 2026 are being developed. These plans stipulate that the income from the use of pastures will be directed towards their improvement.

Kalandarov clarified that the income is generated from payments for pastures: 20 soms are charged for one sheep or goat, and about 100–120 soms for a cow.

For 2026, the republican budget has allocated 50 million soms for the improvement of pastures. A competition is currently underway, within which it is planned to sow an additional 10 thousand hectares of pastures.
