Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized in an interview on March 17 that Israel's policy, which considers itself above others, is gradually leading to catastrophic consequences in the region. This was reported by the Anadolu Agency.

“We recognize that the attacks, which began in Gaza and then affected Yemen and Lebanon, and recently Iran, have motives that go beyond just security issues,” he noted during an iftar with media representatives in Ankara.

Erdoğan also touched upon the role of journalism in modern society. He stated that Turkey, having significant influence, must have quality media that will be popular across a vast territory.

“In the media field, we today have a more free, pluralistic, and diverse environment,” the president emphasized.

Erdoğan expressed his prayers for mercy for the late journalists who made significant contributions to the development of the press but, unfortunately, have passed away. He particularly remembered Murat Keklikçi, a senior correspondent and photo editor for the Sabah newspaper, who died on that day, as well as all journalists who lost their lives in conflict zones, including Palestine. The president noted 275 brave journalists who died trying to convey the truth about the genocide in Gaza to the world. “Thank you, esteemed guests, for your presence at our iftar. I congratulate the Communications Directorate on organizing this wonderful event and hope it will benefit the entire journalism community,” Erdoğan concluded.
