Nobel Laureates Mo Yan and Aziz Sanjar to Participate in the Jubilee Issyk-Kul International Forum

Nobel laureates, Chinese writer Mo Yan and American-Turkish biochemist Aziz Sancar, have confirmed their participation in the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Issyk-Kul International Forum. This was reported on March 27 by the head of the Department for Policy Development, Monitoring, and Analysis of Political and Economic Reforms at the Presidential Administration, Oktay Kapalbaev.

The anniversary event will take place in June 2026. The forum was founded at the initiative of Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov in 1986 and has since become a significant international platform for discussing pressing global issues.

Kapalbaev spoke at a scientific conference in the city of Manas, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Chingiz Aitmatov and the 40th anniversary of the Issyk-Kul Forum.

The head of the department reported the confirmation of participation from both Mo Yan, the 2012 Nobel Prize laureate in literature, and Aziz Sancar, the 2015 Nobel Prize laureate in chemistry. He also discussed the progress of preparations for the anniversary event and emphasized its relevance.

Preparations for the event are being carried out in accordance with the president's directive from 2025, with funding from the national budget, as well as coordination from the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy.

Aziz Sancar is a world-renowned scientist specializing in DNA repair mechanisms. He is considered the first Nobel Prize laureate in the natural sciences from the Turkic world. His discoveries in the field of cancer treatment are widely covered in international scientific sources and media.
