Lavrov noted that Moscow is closely monitoring the situation around Greenland, describing it as "a serious geopolitical problem." He added that discussions on this issue are often linked to "the consequences of the colonial era."
Greenland was a Danish colony until 1953, after which it gained autonomy with self-governing rights in 2009, while remaining part of the kingdom. However, the Danish armed forces have refuted these claims of a potential threat from Moscow or Beijing.
