Media: Protests Resume in Iran

Iranian students have once again begun conducting anti-government actions, reports RIA Novosti, citing information from the British publication Financial Times.
According to the report, the protests started on the first day of the new academic semester, when students from various universities took to the campuses and clashed with pro-government groups.
In particular, protesters gathered at the prestigious Amir Kabir University and Sharif University, located in the central and western parts of Tehran. They expressed dissatisfaction with the authorities and criticized the country's top leadership, including Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The publication notes that the protests are occurring against the backdrop of escalating tensions in Iran's relations with the United States.

Protests in the country began back in late December 2025 due to a sharp devaluation of the national currency, but soon they grew into larger-scale actions and riots, gaining new momentum after calls from Reza Pahlavi, the son of the overthrown Shah. In response to the protests, the authorities shut down the internet, and reports indicated casualties among both protesters and security forces. Iranian authorities accused the U.S. and Israel of organizing the unrest, and on January 12, they stated that the situation had been stabilized.
