As part of the fight against corruption in law enforcement agencies, a case of extortion of a bribe by the deputy prosecutor of one of the districts of the Talas region, known as S.K.O., was uncovered.
According to information from the State Committee for National Security (GKNB), S.K.O. grossly violated the law by using his official position for personal gain, exerting pressure on convicted individuals under probation and fines. He systematically demanded money from them in the amount of 2,000 US dollars, threatening to appeal court decisions and impose actual imprisonment.
These actions by S.K.O. caused significant damage to the efforts of the country's leadership to combat corruption and undermined citizens' trust in government agencies.
On February 1 of this year, during operational activities conducted by GKNB KR employees together with a representative of the security department of the General Prosecutor's Office, S.K.O. was detained while receiving part of the extorted amount of 140,000 soms.
At the moment, the detainee is in the temporary detention facility of the GKNB KR, and investigative actions are underway to uncover other facts of his illegal activities, as well as possible involvement of other officials.
