In the Talas region, a deputy prosecutor has been detained on suspicion of extorting a bribe, as reported by the press service of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS).
According to the investigation, this prosecutor used his official position for personal gain. He exerted pressure on convicts who were on probation and under fines, systematically demanding $2,000 from them.
In case of refusal, S.K.O. threatened to appeal the court decisions to impose real prison sentences on these individuals.
As noted by the SCNS, the actions of the suspect caused significant damage to the state policy in the fight against corruption and undermined public trust in government authorities.

The detention took place on February 1, when SCNS officers and representatives of the General Prosecutor's Office caught S.K.O. red-handed at the moment of handing over part of the bribe amounting to 140 thousand soms.
The suspect has been placed in the temporary detention facility of the SCNS. Investigative actions are ongoing to determine possible other episodes of his criminal activity and to establish the involvement of other officials.
