On January 23, the press service of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) reported the detention of a police officer suspected of committing an official crime.

According to the investigation, police lieutenant U.O.Sh., who works in the GOM-3 of the Osh Department of Internal Affairs, exerted pressure on foreign citizens working in the city. Aware that the migrants lacked the necessary permits, he demanded monthly payments ranging from 5,000 to 20,000 soms for "protection." Otherwise, the officer threatened them with fines and possible deportation.

The suspect was detained on January 21 when GKNB officers, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs' SVR, caught him in the act of receiving money. He is currently being held in the GKNB temporary detention facility.

Investigative actions are ongoing, and other possible participants in the case are being identified.
