Russian actor Mikhail Efremov, who served time in prison for a drunk driving incident, will return to the stage. His comeback is scheduled for the end of March at the "Workshop '12'" theater of Nikita Mikhalkov, where he will play a role in the performance "Without Witnesses," based on the play by Sofia Prokofyeva "Conversation Without a Witness." He will be joined by Anna Mikhalkova. The premiere is expected on March 25 and 26, as indicated on the theater's official website.

The plot of the performance revolves around former spouses who accidentally meet alone many years after their separation. The director is Nikita Mikhalkov, and the artistic design was done by Yuri Kupriyanov.

The performance belongs to the genre of psychological drama.

The incident that led to Efremov's imprisonment occurred on June 8, 2020, on the Garden Ring in Moscow. The artist, driving his Jeep Grand Cherokee, crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a Lada Granta van, driven by 57-year-old courier Sergey Zakharov. As a result of the accident, Zakharov sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Nikolai Sklifosovsky Research Institute, but he could not be saved.

A blood test on the actor showed the presence of alcohol, and the court sentenced him to eight years in prison, later reducing the term to 7.5 years.

The son of the deceased, Vitaly Zakharov, filed a lawsuit against Mikhail Efremov for 7 million rubles, but the court reduced this amount to 800 thousand.
