A large-scale alaman ulak took place in the Uzgen district, sparking discussions about safety measures within the framework of the national game. Unfortunately, during the events, a tragic incident occurred, resulting in one person passing away and another sustaining serious injuries. However, these incidents happened outside the playing field.
Since August 2025, the rules of alaman ulak have been officially regulated by the "Alaman ulak" federation. The chief judge of the federation, Melis Bektashev, noted that previously the game was conducted without clear rules, which often led to conflicts among participants and created numerous dangerous situations with horses. Now, judges are required to be present at every tournament, and specific rules have been established for participants and their horses, with yellow and red cards being issued for violations.
The "Alaman ulak" federation also plans to construct a new racetrack covering 50 hectares near the "Manas" airport, where significant competitions will take place. Additionally, specialized venues for this game are planned to be created in each region of the country.
Players emphasize that participating in alaman ulak requires substantial financial investments for horse maintenance and equipment, but the thrill and the opportunity to be part of a national tradition remain the main motivations. Alaman ulak is gradually transitioning from its previous disorganization to stricter rules, which not only preserves cultural heritage but also enhances safety for all participants.
