In the Batken region, in the rural district of Ak-Turpak, there is a small village called Chogorok.

Although this village is small, its name and historical significance attract the interest of local researchers.

According to local historians, Chogorok represents one of the small clans that belong to the Sary Teyit tribe, and mentions of it can be found in well-known historical sources.

According to residents, Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur described the Chogorok clan among the nomadic peoples of the late 15th century in his book "Baburnama".

In his records, Babur noted that there was a tribe called "chograk" in the Andijan region, which represented a large clan with five to six thousand households. These nomads lived in the mountains between Kashgar and the Fergana Valley, raising many horses and livestock, and instead of bulls, they bred kutas (yaks).

Some sources also report that in the early 13th century, the Chogorok clan was part of the army of the Khwarezmshahs and moved to Afghanistan and Pakistan during the Mongol invasions.

The word "Chogorok" has several interpretations. According to one version, it derives from the words "chagyr/chakyr" and "nökör" (which means retainer or guard of the khan's palace). Local residents believe that the name can be interpreted as a combination of the words "chogor" (golden eagle) and "ok" (clan, people). Considering that the ancient Kyrgyz had a strong connection with the culture of hunting golden eagles, there is an opinion that the name "Chogorok" may mean "clan of the golden eagle" or "people of the golden eagle".

Today, the village of Chogorok is located on the banks of the Khozhoshken River, and more than 40 families live here, primarily engaged in agriculture and livestock breeding.
