Turmush continues to highlight the successes of Kyrgyzstani people living abroad. At Seoul Fashion Week, 21-year-old Shadiya Isaeva, a native of the Ak-Suu district, amazed the audience by walking the runway in her family's traditional attire.

Shadiya, who has been living in the capital of South Korea for three years, shared her impressions with a Turmush correspondent. The young woman dreams of a career as a model and actress.

Previously, Shadiya surprised her friends with national Kyrgyz costumes, and now she has managed to attract the attention of the Korean audience.

“Seoul Fashion Week takes place twice a year. I was a spectator before, but this time I had the opportunity to showcase myself. On the fourth day of the event, I decided to go out in a national costume. Since I didn’t have a traditional Kyrgyz dress, I wore my grandfather's chapan and tied my grandmother's scarf. These were the only national items I had left,” Shadiya said.

“When my younger brother came from Kyrgyzstan last year, I asked him to bring national outfits. I showed them to my Korean friends and gifted them. The clothes of my grandparents remained with me as a memory. These items brought me luck, and the photographers and journalists present at Fashion Week were interested in my look and interviewed me. They noted it as harmonious and unusual,” she added.

Shadiya began studying the Korean language back in school and has always dreamed of visiting this country.

“I have been living in Seoul for three years now. My study of the Korean language started in the eighth grade. My main goal was to come here and fulfill my dream. At first, I worked in various positions, and now I run a blog about life in Korea and shoot commercials,” she said.

“In the future, I want to become an actress and dream of acting in Korean films. I also plan to create a film about our beautiful and unique country and culture to show it to the whole world,” Shadiya noted.

The model emphasizes the importance of Kyrgyz traditions and customs that are passed down from generation to generation.

“Since childhood, the traditions and customs we heard from our parents have become a part of our lives. Unfortunately, my grandparents are no longer alive, but their memories, wisdom, and labor are always with us. My grandfather, Esen Isaev, significantly contributed to the development of our village Ak-Suu and later held the position of chairman of the elders' court. I am proud of my grandfather,” she added.

Shadiya is the eldest of four children in her family.
