Presidents Donald Trump from the USA, Claudia Sheinbaum from Mexico, and Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney have confirmed their attendance at the draw ceremony for the World Cup, which will take place in 2026. This was announced by FIFA's press service.
The ceremony will be held on December 5 in Washington, marking the beginning of preparations for the tournament, which will be hosted for the first time by three countries: the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
Currently, 42 teams are known to have already qualified for the championship. Another six teams will be determined during the European qualifying matches and intercontinental playoffs.
The match format will be as follows: Mexico and Canada will host 13 games each, while the USA will organize 78 matches, including both group stage meetings and playoff games.
The World Cup is scheduled from June 11 to July 19, 2026, and promises to be the largest tournament in FIFA history, as it will feature 48 teams and three host countries.
The organizers are counting on the participation of high-ranking guests at the draw ceremony, emphasizing the importance of the collaborative efforts of the three countries for the successful hosting of this large-scale event.
